Shelby Electric Power of Green Recycling Program
    Hours Of Operation:
Tuesday 8:00 am - noon
Thursday 1pm - 4:00 pm
Saturday 8 am - noon
   
Accepted materials are aluminum, corrugated cardboard, newspapers
& magazines, office paper, plastics #1 & #2, and tin and steel cans.

Accepted Materials Not Accepted Recycling Preparations
     
Aluminum    
Beverage cans, foil pans, roasters Small appliances Empty, no liquid or food, flatten to
    conserve space
     
Tin/Steel Cans    
Food cans, steel articles small enough to  Appliances, paint cans, scrap metal Rinse, flatten to conserve space
fit in the recycling bin or wood  
     
Cardboard    
Only cardboard that has two smooth Food soiled boxes Clean and dry, flatten to conserve space
layers with a wavy layer inside, chipboard    
paperboard, cereal boxes, shoeboxes,    
waxed cardboard    
Magazines and Newspapers    
Slick glossy magazines only, coupon and Phone, library, paperback and textbooks; Clean and dry, may be placed in brown
ad inserts acceptable paper, paper towels, tissues, staples, grocery sack
  rubber bands, twine, string  
Office Paper    
Xerox, carbonless, copy, computer paper Carbon paper, metal binding, construction Clean and dry
(If shredded, must be in a plastic bag) paper, single use paper products, gift  
  wrap, ribbons, bows  
     
Plastics #1 through #7 Non-coded items, plastic lids and caps, Rinse clean, remove and throw away all
Look for the recyclable symbol on  motor oil and chemical containers, plastic lids, caps, nozzles and rings, flatten to
bottom of container - most water bottles, wraps, plastic sacks/bags, microwave conserve space
soda bottles, juice containers, milk jugs trays, toys or other plastic objects,  
  Styrofoam medical waste  
"When in doubt, leave it out!"
