Coloring Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to our 2018 Coloring Contest Winners: Kassidi Sugg of Macon, Elcie Coleman of Pana, and Megan Baker of Trilla.

The winners received a medal, toy bucket truck, and Walmart gift card for their hard work and creativity!

Linemen training turns into a Lineman being saved

     Shelby Electric Cooperative’s Kevin Carlen had completed “hurt man” rescue training and was on his way down, when he lost consciousness at the top of the pole.
At 22 feet in the air, the forestry line foreman had suffered a cardiac arrest. “He kicked back so hard that his feet came out of the pole. Basically, he was just laying in his belt,” said Thad France, a safety instructor at the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in Springfield.

80th Annual Meeting Highlights

Members of all ages enjoyed themselves at Shelby Electric Cooperative’s 80th Annual Meeting held Friday, June 8 at the Shelby County 4-H Fairgrounds in Shelbyville. Balloon animals, face painting, bounce houses and more delighted youngsters. Others enjoyed the barbeque pork chop dinner, provided by the Pork Producers of Shelby County, while being entertained by The Hood Family Band and Live Line Demo, Inc. 

"Youth to Washington" trip winners announced

State Senator Chapin Rose and Representatives Avery Bourne and Brad Halbrook met with students representing Shelby Electric Cooperative during the Illinois Electric and Telephone Cooperatives Youth Day on Wednesday, April 18 in Springfield. More than 210 students from around Illinois had an opportunity to visit the State Capitol, view state government in action and question their legislators on key issues. They also were invited into the office of Secretary of State Jesse White.
