SHS Manufacturing Trades Class Visits Shelby Electric Cooperative

Shelbyville High School’s Manufacturing Trades class recently visited the cooperative. They learned about what a cooperative is and the history of Shelby Electric. Forestry Foreman Luke Brown and Lineman Dalton Brown demonstrated a Hurt Man Rescue, which is a critical safety drill where they climb the utility pole to “rescue” and lower a training dummy. The challenge was then set up for the students to try their hand at using an Extendo Stick to pull down a hot line clamp. This was set up on dead practice lines.
